Transparent evaluation

You see how we evaluate your items

We review hallmarks, construction, weight, gemstones and the complete piece. Eligible items may be tested to help distinguish platinum, palladium, white gold, silver, plating and mixed construction. We explain what the evidence means before presenting an offer.

Testing and equipment

XRF analysis is explained in front of you

XRF analysis is especially useful for uncertain white metals because appearance and stamps can be misleading. Testing is performed in front of you when appropriate. The reading is considered together with construction, weight, gemstones, maker and possible jewelry value.

Questions answered

Platinum and white-metal questions

Can platinum or palladium look like silver?

Yes. White metals can be difficult to identify by appearance alone, so uncertain pieces should be examined rather than discarded.

Do you buy unmarked white metal?

Bring it for an in-person evaluation. A missing or faint mark does not automatically mean the piece has no value.

Does XRF identify every part of a piece?

XRF helps identify the composition of the tested area. Construction, plating, fillers, stones and other components still require a complete physical examination.

Should gemstones be removed first?

No. Bring the complete piece. Diamonds, gemstones, design, maker and condition may matter beyond metal content.

No appointment required
